James Durbin Interview
[pullquote quote=”I’ve been singing covers for a long time, not just on Idol. I used to host karaoke.” credit=””]Durbin is over the moon about his new album and the chance to get out on the road performing his own material. After a lifetime of performing other people’s songs, both on Idol and in his role as karaoke master in the pre-TV days at home in California, Durbin is relishing the opportunity to show off his chops as a songwriter in addition to his singing. Give a listen to the two tracks below to see what we mean.
“Love Me Bad”
James Durbin Performs Live -…Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster was recorded over a few short weeks this fall in California, after the Idol summer tour came to a close. Durbin co-wrote four songs on the album, including the next two from our studio session, “Right Behind You” and “Screaming.” The latter song is destined to become an anthem for anyone who’s ever been bullied or made fun of at school. Durbin himself endured many rough times throughout his school days and has no hesitation bringing those feelings to the surface in order to make his music more relatable.
