§ “Wonder Woman” stays strong in the box office for the second week in a row.
§ It took the top spot again with a $57.2 million weekend which is only a 45% drop in domestic earnings from last week’s record-breaking debut.
§ Newcomer “The Mummy” came home with just $33.2 million.
§ The Tom Cruise version didn’t do was well with critics, compared to the Brenden Fraser-starring trilogy which all debuted higher.
§ Coming in at #3 was Captain Underpants with $12.3 million.
§ Study shows that women are more likely to have food allergies than men.
§ Food allergies are on the rise and the study acknowledges that the reason they could be more common in women is because women report their allergies more often.
§ The study also noted that peanuts are the exception…men were more often allergic to them than women.
§ Researchers also found that people of Asian backgrounds are more likely to have food allergies compared to their counterparts in other races and it could be because of the peanut!
§ In Asian countries, peanuts are primarily boiled whereas in Western countries, they are roasted, a preparation that increases the allergenicity of the peanut.
§ Former NBA star and current analyst Charles Barkley has announced he will be disappearing for awhile.
§ He made the announcement after Game 4 of the NBA finals between the Warriors and the Cavaliers.
§ He said that he will be checking him into a “fat farm.”
§ He says he is completely serious…the clinic is located in Texas.
§ He will be there for the next six weeks.
§ The world’s ugliest color has been described as “death,” “dirty” and “tar” but now this color is being used to discourage smoking.
§ Pantone 448 C, was specifically selected after three months and multiple studies by a research agency.
§ They were hired by the Australian government to find a color that was so repugnant, that if it were on tobacco products, it would dissuade people from smoking.
§ The new color was adopted for all tobacco packaging along with graphic health warnings and now other governments are following suit….the UK, Ireland and France have all passed “plain packaging” laws as well, using mockups in the same ugly color.
