About the Artists
Fitz & the Tantrums
Fitz and The Tantrums are: Fitz (vocals), Noelle Scaggs (vocals/tambourine), James King (saxophone), Jeremy Ruzumna (keyboards), John Wicks (drums) and Joseph Karnes (bass). The Washington Post called Fitz and The Tantrums’ live show “captivatingly crazy” and Rolling Stone praised the band for its “irrepressible energy: hopped-up rhythms, shout-it-out choruses, and hooted background vocals” in a review of More Than Just a Dream. The New York Times noted, “Their debut effort, ‘Pickin’ Up the Pieces’ (Dangerbird), and follow-up, ‘More Than Just a Dream’ (Elektra), burst with danceable hooks.” The Los Angeles Times said, “Fitz…understands what makes a good song…And co-vocalist Noelle Scaggs’ charisma overflows.”
More Than Just a Dream, which has racked up over 76 million album streams to date, contained the RIAA Gold-certified singles “The Walker” (which was tapped for the 2014 OSCAR ad campaign featuring Ellen DeGeneres and a cast of dancers) and “Out Of My League.” Both songs were multi-format hits, topping Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart at #1 and placing in the Top 5 at Triple A radio and in the Top 15 at Hot AC.
Better Than Ezra
Before their omnipresent 1995 single “Good” hit No. 1, before their debut album Deluxe went double-platinum, before popular shows such as Desperate Housewives licensed their song “Juicy,” before Taylor Swift attested to their timeless appeal by covering their track “Breathless” — New Orleans’ Better Than Ezra was a pop-rock act paying its dues, traveling from town to town in a ramshackle van. Over two decades after the band formed, that vigilance still resonates strongly with the trio, who were finally rewarded after seven years of stubbornly chasing their dreams. “This band,” notes bassist Tom Drummond, “has never been handed anything.”
Better Than Ezra has always possessed an uncanny ability to deliver a sticky melody. It just took time for the world to figure this out. As testament to Griffin’s pop prowess, he’s now become an in-demand songwriter and producer across an array of genres (from Sugarland’s “Stuck Like Glue” to Howie Day’s “Collide”). While penning tracks for other artists, Griffin found himself squirreling away compositions he felt best belonged to the Better Than Ezra canon. He coaxed the band back together (which includes drummer Michael Jerome) to record in L.A. for six weeks with Beck and Phoenix producer Tony Hoffer. As testament to their inner-band harmony, ex-drummer Travis McNabb, still tight with the band, filled in on percussion in the studio while Jerome was on tour.
When talking about breaking out of the 90s bubble, Drummond says, “We’ve been asked to join nostalgia tours. But we always say ‘no,’ because the music we’re making is still relevant. We don’t feel like we have to make the same albums we did in the ’90s. Our music changes.”
Blue October is the Texas-based band known for its shimmering melodies and heart-string pulling lyrics, boasting a powerful line-up of players and one of the most emotionally charged and magnetic front men in music today in Justin Furstenfeld.
Blue October has charted NINE Top 40 Hot AC and Alternative singles over EIGHT albums with songs like “Into The Ocean,” “Hate Me,” “Home” “Calling You,” “Dirt Room,” “Say It,” “Bleed Out” and “Fear” from albums such as 2009’s Billboard Top 200 #13 debut ‘Approaching Normal,’ 2011’s Billboard #8 debut ‘Any Man In America,’ the Platinum-selling ‘Foiled’, Billboard’s #13 debut ‘Sway,’ and most recently 2016’s new album ‘Home’ #1 Alternative Album, #1 Rock Album, #1 Independent Album, #5 Current Album Top 200 reaching audiences around the world.
Multi-platinum selling recording artist Daughtry has released four studio albums (Daughtry, Leave This Town, Break
The Spell and Baptized), scored four No. 1 hits, garnered four Grammy nominations, won four
American Music Awards, sold over 8.2 million albums and 16 million singles worldwide and
sold out concerts around the globe. Daughtry’s self-titled debut was the fastest-selling rock
debut in Soundscan history and its follow up, Leave This Town, marked the quintet’s second
consecutive No. 1 album. Daughtry’s third album, Break The Spell was certified gold within
four weeks of its release while their last studio effort, Baptized, produced the certified gold
single, “Waiting For Superman.”
Olivia Holt’s first love has always been music. A Southern girl, born in Tennessee and raised in Mississippi, Olivia’s earliest memories include making up songs with her musician dad (who played in a hair band in the ’80s) in the car on the way to kindergarten and eventually performing with him onstage. “My dad is my biggest musical influence for sure,” Olivia says. “He’s played music my whole life, all different kinds, and he has supported me from day one, encouraging me to explore all forms of creative expression.”
Olivia has done just that over the course of her career. She fell in love with singing and acting after performing in Annie when she was nine. “I played an orphan named July, and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life,” Olivia says. “I remember it so vividly. I wanted to continue acting and singing, and I did everything I possibly could to get there.”
Professionally, acting opportunities came up first and Olivia had a name for herself starring in various TV/film projects when she was approached to record songs for the Girl vs. Monster soundtrack including “Had Me @ Hello” which was a #1 hit at Radio Disney. Shortly thereafter, Olivia got the call from Hollywood Records. “The opportunity to make original music just presented itself,” she says. “It happened completely organically.”
From humble beginnings in small UNLV college clubs to late night T.V., Purple Reign has risen to international acclaim and recognition as the world’s #1 Prince Tribute. On November 17, 2008 the group became the 1st ever tribute/impersonator act to appear as the musical guest on Late Show with David Letterman. That show was chosen by CBS and Late Show to ring in the New Year and re-aired January 1st, 2009 at 12:15am (New Years Eve) less than 45 days later, making it the 1st musical performance of 2009 on Letterman. ‘09 also saw Purple Reign crowned “Best Tribute Act” by the 28th annual Las Vegas Review Journal Poll, winning 2 awards by both the staff and readers. Most recenty the show won “Best Impersonator” in the 2014 LVRJ poll, and was chosen as the season 3 opener for AXStv’s The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands.
Purple Reign captures the imagination and seamlessly re-creates the blistering performances and raw energy of Prince in his prime and returns you to the era that made “The Artist” an international superstar. Featuring a tribute Morris Day and The Time, this show is a must see for “Purple Rain” movie fans and all live music fans alike!
Almost Normal is an Alternative duo that hails from Las Vegas, NV. Andrew Zakher and Ashley Lampman combine their talents to create a mixture of acoustic and percussive elements with keyboards that drive their evolved sound. Prior to reforming the line up in summer of 2013, the group has performed at several venues on the Las Vegas Strip and most surrounding states. They’ve shared the stage with local and national touring artists including The Rocket Summer, Steel Panther and Las Vegas natives, Imagine Dragons. Almost Normal has appeared on local and national radio spots ranging from top 40 stations in Vegas to the renowned Playboy Radio. The duo has since released their debut EP ‘In Technicolor’ in Spring of 2014. Almost Normal has gained positive recognition from several music media outlets including UK music blog, Intamission Music. “It takes time and a lot of hard work to create the kind of cohesive unit a successful band needs to be,” quotes Unsigned Corner music forum, “Almost Normal experienced this first hand.”
NakedElephant is defined by their cosmic envelope of sweeping guitar delays and experimental synth orchestras punctuated by signature bass riffs and ‘indie street’ chops – a tasteful percussive elegance that hasn’t forgotten the musician’s appetite for ‘strange’ while catering to the common ear’s desire for simplicity. Piercing through this elegant
blend of sounds are addicting melodies voiced by the signature, corse timbre of front man Josh Royse contrasted with Mikey Tucker’s smooth harmonies. Their demo is self-produced, engineered and recorded in their home studio by lead guitarist and Berklee graduate Taylor
