As a native Nevadan, Heather Collins grew up listening to Mix 94.1 never dreaming that one day her own voice would grace the airwaves. For the young woman growing up in Las Vegas, music was a mere hobby which quickly spun into a passion and career path.
Collins, who credits her three life loves to (1) music, (2) Matchbox Twenty and (3) photography, began her career at CBS radio as the go-to photographer for company events and concerts.
Her enthusiasm and eagerness to advance her career was quickly noticed and she began as the weekend on-air talent for both Mix 94.1 and X107.5 soon after joining the company.
Today, still the youngest of the on-air talent, she is at the helm of the midday show creating an upbeat listening experience Monday through Friday (10AM-3PM) for those tuning in.
Dedicated and driven to create a one-on-one vibe with listeners, Collins can be found chatting at length with fans at company events and local red carpet functions on a weekly basis. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, supporting local charitable causes, craft projects, painting and taking photos.
“I am so proud of Heather,” says Program Director Charese Fruge. “She started out as an intern a few years ago, learned everything she possibly could about the station and perfected her on air skills by pulling as many shifts as she could on two stations. There is no one who deserves this opportunity more than she does. And by the way, she sounds AWESOME!”
“If there is one thing I hope to accomplish at Mix 94.1- it is to connect with listeners and introduce them to new and undiscovered musical talent. There is no greater feeling in the world than watching a listener come face-to-face with their favorite band! I met my idol (Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty) when I was 20 years old thanks to Mix 94.1. I will never forget that moment. I hope I am able to do that for others!” -Heather
